October 26 The Boys and Male Choir of Hereford Cathedral Choir, England, UK One of the world’s oldest and best boys choirs with their director Geraint Bowen will be performing here. Hereford is one of the three cathedrals closely associated with the oldest choral festival in the world, The Three Choirs Festival. The Girl Choir will be touring Hereford in 2009 so it will be a great opportunity to hear this wonderful choir before visiting them next summer. In addition Huw worked at Hereford Cathedral as Assistant Organist between 1995and 1998. Huw and Angela were married in this cathedral in 1997.

November 9 Brahms Requiem Redeemer Choir and friends perform the Brahms Requiem accompanied by piano duet. This is a version which Brahms himself arranged and it was recently recorded by King’s College, Cambridge.

December 14 A British Christmas featuring the choirs of the Redeemer
5:00 pm
The concert will feature religious and secular music for Christmas presented combined with drum and harp. Ranging from the famous tradition carols to the less well known ones. The concert will include Biblical and secular readings.

February 8 A Night at the Opera
A Night at the Opera will feature our wonderful soloists in the Redeemer Choir in a wide variety and style of arias and ensembles from the operas of Mozart, Donizetti, Puccini, Rossini and more. They will be joined by the newly formed Redeemer Festival Opera Chorus and accompanied on the piano and organ by Huw Williams and Joshua Stafford.

March 8 Animals and Children
Please join us for the Animals and Children concert, on Sunday, March 8, at 4:00 pm at Church of the Redeemer, Bryn Mawr. Conventional wisdom advises against mingling animals and children together on the stage, but this concert takes the unique twist of combining Prokofiev’s Peter and the Wolf and David Hurd’s Jonah-man-Jazz. World renowned Wanamaker Organ organist Peter Conte will play Peter and the Wolf on the Redeemer organ and Sam Chew will narrate. Keeping with the animal and children theme, the newly formed children’s Jonah Choir will join for the second part of the program performing David Hurd’s Jonah-man-Jazz, a contemporary children’s musical based on the Biblical account of Jonah and his encounter with the whale.

April 26 A Handel Celebration
will feature the combined forces of the Redeemer Choirs along with the choirs from Trinity Church, Princeton, NJ. The featured works are Handel’s Zadok the Priest and the Coronation Anthems.

We proudly announce that this year’s series will
 support these organizations:

African Children’s Mission

Early in 2004, a group of parishioners organized a committee to explore ways to respond to the AIDS crisis in Africa, focused on the plight of the rapidly growing population of children orphaned by AIDS. The Church of the Redeemer has identified organizations in Malawi that we, as a congregation, could support in meaningful ways. For further information, please contact Grant Norris (610-745-2585 or grant.norris@us.ibm.com).

Interfaith Hospitality Network (IHN)

IHN provides homeless families and single women with shelter. The guests of the shelter spend the majority of their time in the daycenter located in Norristown. In the evening the guests are housed in one of ten designated congregations (including The Redeemer) on the Main Line.
