Level I
3 YRS. OLD THROUGH GRADE K
Level I Atrium, 2nd Floor, Parish House
Sunday, 9:00 – 11:00 am
Catechesis of the Good Shepherd is a Montessori-based approach
to learning built on the principle that the child desires to
draw near to God and aimed at developing the religious potential
present in every child. Children and teachers (“catechists”)
meet in the Atrium for lessons rooted in the Bible and the
liturgy of the church and work with related materials.

Level II
GRADES 1 THROUGH 3
Level II Atrium, 2nd Floor, Parish House
Sunday, 10:15 – 11 am
Level II embraces the principles described in Level I and yet is
developmentally age appropriate. Older children explore their
individual relationships with God, family, friends and the local
and global community and the basic theme of covenant as lived in
the liturgy and reflected in the Bible. Lessons are enhanced
through work with related materials.

GRADES 4, 5 and 6
Room 206, 2nd floor Parish House
Sunday, 10:15 – 11 am
Bridging the gap between Catechesis of the Good Shepherd and
Journey to Adulthood, this Episcopal curriculum welcomes our
children on their unique spiritual journeys. It integrates
best-loved Bible stories with Episcopal liturgy and tradition.
The year is divided into thematic units: Old Testament stories, New Testament stories, and stories of the
church. During Advent this group presents a Sunday
morning in-house Christmas pageant for the Redeemer community.

Rite 13 |
|
GRADES 7 and 8
Basement Room 5, Parish House
Sunday, 10:15 – 11 am
The second year of the Journey to Adulthood program
recognizes the creative potential of these young people, build
community and create a safe haven to explore God’s call in our
lives. Grounded in scripture, liturgy and Episcopal church
tradition, sessions focus on four areas of human development:
self, society, sexuality and spirituality. In the year that they
turn 13, students participate in a Rite 13 liturgy. Occasional
afternoon or evening activities are also planned.

J2A |
|
GRADES 9 and 10
Basement Room 6, Parish House
Sunday, 10:15 – 11 am
J2A takes seriously the need to deal with what is real for youth
and to invite and honor their questions and doubts. Like Rite 13
sessions are grounded in scripture, liturgy and Episcopal church
tradition and cover the topics of self, society, sexuality and
spirituality. In fall 2005 the focus is sexuality, and in the
second half of the year, spirituality.
J2A’ers
participate in service projects and skills training and plan and
take part in a pilgrimage. J2A is considered an important
stepping-stone along the road to confirmation.
Leaders: Katie Binnion, John LeBoeuf, Bill Susskind |
