Mackie MacLean

B.A. (Mackie) MacLean, Jr. and his family joined the Redeemer when they moved to Haverford in 1977. Older daughter Elizabeth soon became active in RYG, while sons Andrew and Tucker sang in the boys’ choir. Younger daughter Rebecca MacLean Northington also joined the choir, a tradition she and her four children have continued to this day. The three younger children were also acolytes.  Mackie’s wife Charlotte taught in Church School for more than 25 years and directed it during her vestry term. Mackie also taught Church School in addition to serving as a youth group leader and search committee member following Tim Pickering’s retirement. More recently he has served on the music and finance committees, and the Legacy into Promise gift committee. Mackie has spent the last 30 years in executive search, most of it as a partner with Diversified Search LLC., which is now the ninth largest firm in the industry. He remains active as a Senior Advisor in the firm working with a small number of longtime clients. Over the years he has served on several local boards of directors, including the Haverford and Baldwin school boards; the Philadelphia Zoo; VNA and VNS of Philadelphia; the Academy of Vocal Arts which he chaired for ten years, and the public company, First Priority Bank Corp. He is a graduate of Yale, and earned his MBA at New York University, and initially spent 20 years in the banking business, predominately with Brown Brothers Harriman & Co.
